James 4&5

Here are a bunch of one-liners from these 2 chapters that speak volumes…
“But he gives MORE grace…”
“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble”
“submit to God”
“draw near to God and he will draw near to you”
“now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil”
“confess your trespass to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed”

so there are zillion things to blog about, but here is just one. Do you have a habit, or attitude, or struggle that you just can’t break? you go in prayer, ask for accountability, but no change? in the short version of the answer, it’s a great possibility it’s your pride.
check it – god’s grace is more than forgiveness, it’s an ability to overcome. to beat the habit, attitude, sin. but if we continue in our arrogance that tries it on your own, except for actually owning it, god doens’t jive with that. God promises to draw near to us, when we draw close to him. it’s not his willingness, but our arrogance. maybe you dont’ feel its any big deal. or that you can beat it on your own. want to be freed? tell someone you don’t want to tell. break your pride. find grace and healing.
most of the time, god has to keep us at arms distance because we just wont’ own it. i’ve been devasted (maybe thats too strong of a word) by all the steroid allegations. i love baseball. i love the history. but i hate the steroid stuff. the guys i (along with so many others) have the biggest problems with are the dudes who wont’ admint it. the Bonds, Clemens, McGuires of the deal.
doesn’t God know the truth? yeah, but you are still delusional and haven’t realized god has you at arms distance cause of your pride. you need his grace to overcome, but you can’t get it until you get humble.
I don’t know why we would get hung up on being afraid of god. maybe we won’t want what we deserve. i get that, but God promises to draw near to us, not run and beat us. confessing and humilty do us way more good than anything else.
i need his grace. i must submit myself to him.
