James 3

There is a distinct difference between things of God and things of man. There is a great difference between something saturated in God and something saturated with an individual.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference, but only if you are the person or individual who is saturating it. It’s that individual who used great logic and reason for their decision, yet still didn’t produce any good fruit.

Check out James 3:16-18 “for where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yeild, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”

Sometimes when i’ve looked at decisions i’ve made, especially while leading others, i see a lot more confusion and a lot less good fruit. So often i think it’s a lack of willingness to hear from God. I want an answer or direction NOW, not wait for it. Many times my decisions are about my comfort (self-seeking).

When making decisions, it’s a good idea to look at the descriptions listed in this verse. Ask yourself if the decision to be made will produce peace, be gentle, and are you willing to yield?
